Concert Palimpseste

The writing is willingly a palimpsest, the rewriting, incessantly, of what is already written, for the pleasure of it, to go through the forms again and disturb the lines, to arrange their sequences differently. This concert thus invites a few miniatures, a tribute to brevity even in the genres of tradition, opera and cantata.

The chamber cantata Now, with all our might, try not to understand anything, to a libretto by Pierre Senges, is based on Bach's cantatas BWW94 and BWW110. She draws from it literary quotations and other musical ones, altered. Forging a new path, tiny, in these illustrious models, tenor and countertenor embody the age-old struggle between materialism and idealism. Kind des Faust was part of the 2016 show Angelus Novus. Anti-Faust by Sylvain Creuzevault, in which a character of a composer took part. It was then an opera in the theater, rereading Goethe's magnum opus and its forgotten figure of the child of Faust and Marguerite, whom his parents had drowned and who returns from the kingdom of the dead to take revenge. At the opening of the concert, then between cantata and opera, follow one another with fluidity and coherence two notebooks of Virgules radiophoniques conceived ten years ago for a program by Gérard Pesson, Boudoir & others. Developed and instrumented for the occasion, in the concert hall now, these commas revisit the initial pencil stroke, give life to other paths.
